I'm not sure how I keep finding out about these various trails but this one was really quite fun. It was also odd that I saw more deer(10 or so) than humans(one human being). If it weren't for all the snow that had fallen the day before it would have been a lot easier, up on the ridges I had snow up to my knees, sans snow shoes or poles. I'm looking forward to doing this one again.
I did a section of this trail a day prior, hence the cloud cover which didn't miraculously dissipate. Quite the contrast though. I did a portion of the trail to familiarize myself with the terrain, it's pretty easy to get off course in these foothills.
The only deer I managed to shoot. Will deer be the new birds?
The view up City Creek Canyon & the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
There are a few different radio towers on these wee peaks hence the tire tracks. I was grateful though that they broke trail for part of the way.
The view again up City Creek Canyon.
My shadow doesn't do justice to how much of a bugger these hills were, again given the newly fallen snow.
From the top, looking south towards Salt Lake City.
Facing the other way from the top to the north, towards Bountiful.
By the time I made it back to my car I was quite exhausted, I foolishly didn't bring any food or water which would have greatly aided my waning energy levels. Next time I'll be smarter.
