Grandeur Peak is Grand-er indeed

Grandeur Peak, what a posh name.  I found out about this mountain because the trail head is right off the pipeline trail in Millcreek Canyon.  It is a climb you can do about year round, I think it took us 4 hours to do the 6 miles roundtrip and over 2,000 vertical feet.  My wife did fantastically for someone who was mostly accustomed to climbing to our fourth floor apartment in Brooklyn.

The summit is just behind the mountain in the middle of the photo.

The view towards downtown SLC & Mt. Olympus of the lovely haze from the summit(haze is a very generous word for smog).

Looking east from the summit.

Evelyn thought this photo sequence was very paparazzi of me, thanks?

I'm not cheap but I can't pass up on some second hand old school Vasque hiking boots that happen to fit my wife.  If I won the lottery tomorrow(FYI Utah has no lottery, I'd have to drive to Idaho for one) I'm sure I'd still be shopping at thrift stores.

This was the second three part sequence I shot, guess my paparazzi skills improved the second time around.

What is the great wall of China doing in the Wasatch Mountains?  Guess they cursed us with rubbish air for our crimes, crap.

My better half feeling/looking quite accomplished.

Trail side trees, I did hug the aspen, it just felt right.  No seriously, I did actually hug it, just forgot to get a Kodak moment out of it.

On the ridge & near the ridge that leads to the top(8,299 feet at the top, 8,300 if you jump at the summit).

Do I look creepy with the aviators?

Sun, Earth, & Moon present, Bret present, Jemaine present, & Murray present, first item of business gigs, no gigs.

  1. I love that hike. I have hiked it twice to see the sunset and returned down by way of flashlight. I sure miss it.
